Soroptimist is a volunteer organization dedicated to improving the lives of women and girls throughout the world. Soroptimist means "Best for Women" and that's what this non-profit organization tries to achieve globally through programs leading to social and economic empowerment for women. They even have a seat at the table in the United Nations!
Elizabeth Peterson is the President of the newly chartered Soroptimist International Connecticut Shoreline Club. She has spent three decades working as an engineer in Connecticut. For the same amount of time Elizabeth has been mentoring adolescents and college students in STEM - which stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Math. She currently holds a full time job as a Nuclear Engineer for Dominion at Millstone Power Station in Waterford, CT and regularly volunteers more than 500 hours a year!
Elizabeth came in to be interviewed on her day off -- she's really that committed -- and I'm sure Soroptimist is delighted to have her serve as President of the newly formed chapter! P.S. What do you do when your life is turned upside down in a split second and you suffer multiple traumatic losses. Kathy Dann shares her breathless story of unbearable loss and says what you do is, "You Keep Moving!"
